New RGA's Provide Fast and Accurate Gas Analysis and an Easy-to-Use, Versatile Software Package.

Thermo Vacuum Generator's new high sensitivity, low noise residual gas analysers (RGA's) cover mass ranges 1-100, 1-200, or 1-300, and are capable of detecting partial pressures as low as 5x10-14 mbar (3.75x10-14 Torr), clearly defining the residual gas spectrum. The new RGA's include GasWorks software, a graphic user interface with features for either novice process technicians or experienced analytical scientists. Stored recipes can be activated with a single 'click' to start measuring and recording data for each application. For leak checking, any gas (usually helium) can be used to provide an audible signal through a PC's speakers, increasing in pitch proportional to leak rate.

All models provide high sensitivity (5x10-4 Amps/mbar) and high speed stable electronics that virtually eliminate zero blast (switch-on time), providing the best hydrogen performance available. For superior sensitivity above 50 amu and enhanced peak separation, SMART IQ+ models come with a triple filter. Fast measurement speeds allow data to be time stamped with 1/100th second resolution. GasWorks software allows easy click-and-go measurement, or access to advanced features including derived values, scheduled scans, data logging, alarms, background filtering, or comparing spectra to a stored data library. The library includes spectra of over 200 compounds, including common hydrocarbons found as contaminants in vacuum chambers.

In addition to RS232 I/O and relay outputs for alarms, the new RGA's feature analog inputs allowing users to display an external 0-10V input (such as pressure or temperature) against the RGA spectra. For UHV applications such as MBE or Synchrotrons, bake-ability to 300oC and an optional platinum UHV ion source minimize outgassing and provide exceptionally low electron stimulated desorption (ESD) peaks. TVG also offers RGA packages to upgrade older TVG quadrupoles with features of the new RGA's. Detailed specifications and dimensions are found at www.thermoVacGen.com.
