HPT Translator



The HPT High Precision Translator is built up from a selection of modules for a wide range of applications. The single bellows construction is easy to use in any orientation and the use of high quality guidance components give the HPT excellent precision, repeatability and long life, in even the most extreme UHV conditions.

Features
  • Precision single bellows translator with mounting in any orientation.
  • Full UHV specification, bakeable to 230°C and compatible with the full range of VG sample handling accessories.
  • Base mounting flange options are 152mm OD (NW100CF) with feedthrough ports for sample services, or 70mm OD (NW35CF) without feedthrough ports.
  • The travelling flange is 70mm OD (NW35CF).
  • Alternative bellows options of 35mm (the HPT-RX) or 44mm (the HPT-WX) bore.
  • Z travel ranges: 50mm, 100mm, 150mm or 250mm. All lengths have vacuum compensation springs which reduce load on the Z micrometer.
  • XY travel up to ±12.5mm.
  • X, Y and Z axes can be motorised.
  • Precision tilt adaptor option.
  • The HPT conforms to relevant EU Safety Directives.

Construction
The HPT is a high specification translator that uses a single, edge welded bellows for X, Y and Z movements. This construction gives the HPT its ease of use in any orientation. The VG Scienta modular system gives high versatility. Build quality and the use of the best components are a feature of the HPT: for example, the XY stage uses cross roller bearing slides and the Z slide use re-circulating ball guides. These rolling elements extend high precision and long life even after prolonged bakeouts. The Z slide has vacuum compensation springs for ease of use and to increase the life further. Precision micrometers actuate the X, Y and Z manual movements. Stepper motors can replace the micrometers for higher resolution movement.
