UHV Viewports and Viewport Shutters

We offer a complete range of UHV compatible Viewports to suit all clean and UHV applications, manufactured from the highest quality materials. They have a wide angle of vision, high resistance to thermal shock and minimum transmission of strain from flange bolts. The standard range of Kodial® viewports covers the visible spectrum. The Sapphire and quartz versions cover the Ultra-Violet & Infra-Red regions respectively.
To complement the viewports, a range of viewport shutters and accessories are also available, the shutters offer protection for the viewport against processes (such as evaporation) inside the vacuum system.
To protect the user, a range of lead glass disks and viewport covers are available. The lead glass disks are suitable for radiation protection. To mount the viewports, a full range of bolt sets, gaskets and accessories are available.

Transmission Coefficients.

The graph below shows the relationship between transmission coefficient (as a %) and wavelength, for the quoted materials. Certain materials transmit better at certain wavelengths than others. A 100% transmission is almost impossible to achieve. It should be noted that factors such as material thickness, material batch differences, and the age of the material can affect the transmission curves from batch to batch. Therefore these figures should only be used as a guide. As a general rule, the thicker the material, the more the extreme ends of the curve are attenuated. Some materials, - notably those used in IR transmissions, can age, this ageing will cause a reduction in transmission % over a period of time.

WARNING
Annealed Copper gaskets require a much lower sealing force to make a leak tight seal. They are normally used where it is important to limit the amount of force required by the component when sealing. Recommended for uses with items such as Zero Length Viewports, Gauge Heads, and fragile Ceramic Feedthroughs. Annealed copper gaskets are all individually packed.
