Gaskets - Introduction
To make a leaktight UHV seal between two conflat flanges, a gasket material is required. OFHC (Oxygen Free High Conductivity) Copper is normally used as this sealing material as it is very clean, can easily be formed to shape, has a wide temperature range, and has a low outgassing rate.VG Scienta gaskets are made from precision sheet material (to guarantee a consistent gasket thickness) and then inspected, cleaned, and individually packed.

As OFHC Copper gaskets are not always needed (or indeed suitable) for all requirements, we have a range of several different types of gasket in various materials. Some of these gaskets are used in specialised operating conditions, whereas others can be used for most of the general UHV applications.
